The lost world is a novel published in 1912 by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle in relation with an expedition to a plateau in the Amazonian basin of South America, where the prehistoric animals (dinosaurs and other extinct creatures) still survive. It was published originally in series in the popular Strand Magazine and illustrated by the artist born in New Zealand Harry Rountree during April and November, 1912. The teacher's character Challenger got in this book. The novel describes also a war between the indigenous peoples and a tribe vicious of creatures simiescas.
